Emory, VA -- Timothy Songer netted two second period goals to propel Randolph College to a 3-2 ODAC win over host Emory and Henry College on Saturday night.
With the win Randolph improves to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Emory and Henry falls to 4-6-1 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Emory and Henry would score first with a goal from PJ Henson just 18 seconds into the game. The WildCats would answer when Eddy Ratianarivo found the back of the net off a free kick at the 7:39 mark of the first period to tie the game at 1-1.
The Wasps would take the lead before the half when Henson scored his second goal of the first period at the 29:31 mark off an assist from Chris O'Conner giving Emory and Henry a 2-1 lead at the break.
After fifteen mintues of play in the second period, the game remained at 2-1. Songer then netted his first goal off an assist from Nick Hudson to tie the game at 2-2. Songer then scored the game-winner off an assist from Ratianarivo eight minutes later to give Randolph the 3-2 lead. From there the WildCats defense secured the win.
Randolph outshot Emory and Henry 15-14, while the Wasps held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. WildCats goalie Aaron Humphreys made six saves in the game to pick up the win.
The win places Randolph in a four way tie for fourth place in the ODAC with six more conference games remaining. The WildCats will return to action Tuesday when they host Randolph-Macon College for an important conference matchup at 4:00 pm.
