Lynchburg, VA -- Lynchburg College posted a 2-0 win over host Randolph College in ODAC men's soccer action Tuesday afternoon. With the loss Randolph drops to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play. Lynchburg improves to 12-2-2 and 6-0-2 in ODAC play.
Donald Hart III put the Hornets on the board early when he headed in a goal off an assist from Zach Ward at the 20:59 mark of the first period. The Hornets would take a 1-0 lead into the half. Cam Smith would then find the back of the net off an assist from Jared Melot at the 58:13 mark of the second peiod to extend Lynchburg's lead to 2-0. From there defense took over and the WildCats were unable to find many scoring opportunities.
WildCats goalie Aaron Humphreys made five saves in net, while Hornets goalie Matt Sturdivant had five saves recording the shutout. Lynchburg outshot Randolph 16-9, while holding a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Captain Sequoyah Healy-Louer was honored before the game for his dedication and efforts to the Randolph men's soccer program. The WildCats will return to action Saturday when they travel to Methodist College for a contest at 3:00 pm.
