Men's Soccer travels to cross-town rival Lynchburg for ODAC quarterfinals

Humphreys ranks second in the conference with 93 saves

Lynchburg, VA -- The Randolph College men's soccer team will have a chance to make history as they enter the Old Dominion Athletic Conference playoffs for the first time in program history. Randolph will travel to cross-town rival Lynchburg College Saturday November 1st for a match at 7:00 pm at Shellenberger Field. There is no admission charge for the event. The WildCats finished the regular season 7-11 overall and 4-6 in conference play on way to a seventh seed. Lynchburg finished the season 13-2-3 overall and 7-0-3 in conference play locking up the second seed. The two teams met on October 21st at Randolph with Lynchburg prevailing 2-0. The WildCats are looking to avenge the earlier loss and advance in the playoff brackets.

Sophomore Jonathon Bolton has led the WildCats this season with 17 points on eight goals and one assist. Bolton is tied for first in the conference with four game-winning goals. Sophomore Eddy Ratianarivo follows with 13 points on four goals and five assists, and ranks second in the conference in shots with 71. First-year Timothy Songer adds eight points on fouor goals, while sophomore Hong Ju Moon contributes seven points on three goals and one assist. Randolph has been led on the back line by senior Sequoyah Healy-Louer, sophomore Rashan Colbert, and first-year Alfonso Davila. Wildcats goalie sophomore Aaron Humphreys has been steady in net all year with a 1.95 goals against average. He has 93 saves on the season which is good for second in the conference. Humphreys has recorded four shutouts on the year.

Lynchburg has five players in double digit points this season. Junior Josh Reed leads the team with 30 points on 11 goals and eight assists. Junior Pat Brown follows with 17 points on seven goals and three asissts. Sophomores Cam Smith, Michael Abbonizio, and Donald Hart III contribute 15, 14, and 13 points respectively. Hornets goalie junior Matt Sturdivant ranks second in the conference with a 0.64 goals against average with 73 saves. As a team, the Hornets rank first in points (140), goals (50), and assists (40) in the conference.

Winner of the match will advance to the semi-finals where they will face the winner of #6 Eastern Mennonite University and #3 Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday November 5th at a time to be determined. Complete tournament brackets are listed below.
