Lynchburg, VA -- TL Tutor netted two goals as Mary Washington University held Randolph College scoreless in regulation to post a 2-0 shutout win on day two at Lynchburg College's Shellenberger Field on Sunday afternoon.
With the loss Randolph slips to 1-3-1 on the season, while Mary Washington improves to 4-2 overall.
Both teams battled to a scoreless first half after each team had ample opportunities to find their first tally. At the 58:17 mark of the second half, Tutor would score thanks to an assist from Patch Owen when he headed the ball into the back of the net off of a corner kick. With just under eight minutes remaining in the contest, Tutor would add his second tally when he took a long pass from Jae Park and beat WildCat goalie Aaron Humphreys to the left post to secure the win.
Mary Washington held a commanding advantage in shots at 26-6, while holding a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks throughout the afternoon. Humphreys finished with 10 saves, while Mary Washington goalie Emmett Rutkowski was limited to one save thanks to some fine defensive play from his back line.
Randolph's Timothy Songer was named to the All-Tournament Team for his play during the two-day event. Randolph will return to action Wednesday when they travel Rocky Mount, NC to face North Carolina Wesleyan for a non-conference match at 4:00 p.m.
