Lynchburg, VA -- Bret Brennan scored the game-winner, then added an assist on Methodist's second goal as the visiting Monarchs posted a 2-0 win over Randolph College in non-conference action Tuesday night at the college's new track and field complex.

With the loss Randolph slips to 2-7-1 overall, while Methodist improves to 3-6 on the year.

Just 17:58 into the first half, Brennan struck when he found the back of the net past a diving WildCat goalie Aaron Humphreys. The Monarchs would take a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to some solid defense.

Just 12 minutes into the second frame, Brennan would find Scott Smith streaking to the goal as Smith would extend the lead to 2-0. From there, Randolph had several opportunities to get back into the contest but failed to put one past keeper Kyle Beach.

Randolph held a slight shot advantage at 16-14, while Methodist recorded 4 corner kicks to the WildCats 2. Humphreys finished with seven saves, while Beach was strong in net picking up the shutout posting eight saves.

The WildCats will return to ODAC play Saturday when they host Washington and Lee University for a match at 7:00 p.m. on the college's new track and field complex.
