Ashland, VA -- Randolph College sophomore Nick Hudson picked a great time to cash in on his third goal of the season as the midfielder found the back of the net at the 11:15 mark of the first half to propel the WildCats to a 1-0 win over host Randolph-Macon College in ODAC men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
With the win Randolph improves to 4-8-3 overall and 3-3-2 in ODAC play. RMC falls to 2-9-3 overall and 2-4-2 in conference matches.
Hudson's goal was all the WildCats needed in a tightly played contest throughout. Randolph's backline was excellent stopping any type of Yellow Jacket rally to tie the match. WildCats keeper junior Aaron Humphreys was stellar in net again finishing with three saves recording his third shutout of the season.
Randolph outshot RMC 18-6, while holding a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. The WildCats controlled most of the first half in their offensive zone, then stiffened the defense in the second half to secure the ODAC victory.
The WildCats will return home Wednesday when they welcome Bridgewater College for an ODAC match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the college's new field and track complex.
