Harrisonburg, VA -- Sophomore midfielder Timothy Songer's goal at the 21:21 mark of the first half proved to be the difference as visiting Randolph College posted a 1-0 shutout win at Eastern Mennonite University Tuesday on a rain soaked night.
With the win Randolph finishes the 2009 regular season with a 6-8-4 overall mark and 4-3-3 in ODAC play. Eastern Mennonite finishes 7-6-5 overall and 5-3-2 in conference matches.
Songer would take a through ball from junior Eddy Ratianarivo and beat Royals keeper Dillon Brunk to the low right side for the eventual game-winner. The WildCats defense was stellar all night, limiting the Royals' offensive chances. WildCat goalie first-year Scott Zaring finished with four saves recording his second shutout of the season.
Randolph and Eastern Mennonite each totaled 10 shots, while the WildCats held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The WildCats will enter the 2009 ODAC postseason tournament as the sixth seed and will travel to third seeded Lynchburg College on Saturday at a time to be announced.
