Hood escapes with 3-2 OT victory over WildCats

Montana Gibson's goal in the first-half gave the WildCats a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Frederick, MD - The Randolph College men’s soccer team led Hood College by a score of 2-1 at halftime yesterday, but was unable to hold on for the win, falling 3-2 in overtime.

The Blazers took an early lead on a goal by Shane McCarrick in the second minute of the game. The WildCats responded with a goal of their own at the eight-minute mark. The goal was scored by Zach MacDougall, who followed up a deflected shot by teammate Eddy Ratianarivo to tie the game 1-1.

Twenty-six minutes later, WildCat Montana Gibson scored on a cross from Johnathan Bolton to give Randolph a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Blazer Quin Miller scored off of a rebound to tie the game 2-2 in the 73rd minute. The score remained tied after the end of regulation, forcing the WildCats into their fourth overtime game of the season.

The game remained tied until the 101st minute of play, until Hood was awarded a penalty kick for a foul committed by the WildCats in the penalty area. Tom Noonan connected on the penalty kick to give the Blazers a 3-2 victory.
