Catholic defeats Wildcats in overtime, 3-2

Ashland, VA -- Kevin Duffy scored the game-winning goal at the 92:30 mark of the overtime session to give Cathloic University a 3-2 win over Randolph College in the final day of the Randolph-Macon College tournament Sunday.

With the loss Randolph slips to 0-2 overall.

Matt Brady got Catholic on the board with an unassisted goal at the 9:10 mark of the first period. Randolph would tie the score at 1-1 with a goal from Tim Songer assisted by Hong Moon at the 10:28 mark of the first period.

Duffy would then add his first goal of the game with an assist from Brady at the 57:00 mark of the second period giving Catholic a 2-1 lead. Eddy Ratianarivo would tie the score at 2-2 for Randolph on a penalty kick goal at the 85:48 mark. Duffy would then add his late game heroics by netting the game winner off an assist from Austin Costeira to seal the win for Catholic.

Catholic outshot Randolph 11-10 in the game, while holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. WildCat goalie David Humphreys had three saves in net, while Catholic goalie Quinn Daly had two stops.

The WildCats will return to action Friday when they host Southern Virginia University for a match at 4:30 pm.
