Two second half goals help propel Randolph to win

Ferrum, VA -- Randolph picked up its first win of the season posting a 3-0 win over host Ferrum College Tuesday afternoon in men's soccer action.
With the win Randolph improves to 1-3 overall, while Ferrum slips to 1-2 overall on the year.
Randolph's Jonathon Bolton put the WildCats on the board first right before halftime with a goal off an assist from Nick Hudson at the 44:54 mark of the first period. Timothy Songer would then extend the WildCat lead to 2-0 with a goal at the 54:36 mark of the second period off an assist from Eddy Ratianarivo and Eric van Staalduinen.
From there the WildCat defense and goalie Aaron Humphreys would stifle the Panthers offensive attack. Humphreys had eight saves in the game picking up the shutout. Hong Ju Moon would then add an insurance goal at the 86:01 mark of the second period ending any chance of a Panther comeback.
Randolph outshot Ferrum 21-15, while holding a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks in the match. Ratianarivo led Randolph with seven shots (five on goal) and one assist. Van Staalduinen followed with one shot and two assists. Bolton, Songer, and Moon provided the scoring, accounting for one goal each.
Randolph will return to action Saturday when the WildCats host North Carolina Wesleyan for a match at 4:00 pm.
