Box Score

Lynchburg, VA -- Katie Rechnitzer and Lindsay Cross combined for 31 points and nine rebounds, as Randolph College posted a 65-53 non-conference win over visiting Mary Baldwin College Friday night.

With the win Randolph improves to 3-15 overall, while Mary Baldwin drops to 4-16 on the season.

Randolph raced out to a 26-16 halftime lead, thanks to the play of Rechnitzer and Cross. Rechnitzer canned two three-pointers in the game, while Cross finished a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Mary Baldwin made several second half surges, but the steady ball movement and timely shooting of the WildCats was too much to overcome.

Nine WildCats hit the scoring column in the win, including eight points each from Michelle Brockman and Megan Carney. Kristen Blalock finished with nine points and a season-high three blocked shots. Sam Schaffstall was outstanding on the defensive end for the WildCats, recording a season-high six steals in the game.

The Fighting Squirrels were led by Marian Howard with 11 points, while Christie Hamilton added 10 points and three rebounds.

Randolph shot an impressive 50.0 percent (21-42) from the floor, and 41.7 percent (5-12) from behind the arc.

Randolph will now return to ODAC play when the WildCats travel to Washington and Lee University on Saturday. Gametime is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
