Randolph records fourth win in ODAC play

Greensboro, NC -- Four WildCats hit double figures, including a team-high 14 points from junior guard Katie Rechnitzer, as Randolph College posted a 73-68 win at Guilford College Tuesday night.
With the win Randolph improves to 5-18 overall and 4-15 in ODAC play. Guilford drops to 10-13 overall and 9-9 in conference play.
Randolph would trail early in the first half, as Guilford built a seven point lead at 23-16 after a jumper from Brittany Bumgarner. The WildCats would respond as Rechnitzer would hit a deep three-pointer just before the first half buzzer sounded as Randolph would head to the break down 33-28.
In the second stanza, Guilford would extend their lead to twelve points at 49-37 after two free throws from Jasmine Wood. From there the WildCats would catch fire on the offensive end going on a 13-2 run. Lindsay Cross would start the scoring tear with a layup, followed by a Michelle Brockman tally from inside the paint. Rebecca Ann-Folden would then sink a trey and a jumper, before Brockman and Kristen Blalock would cap off the run with scores inside the paint. Randolph would take its first lead at 53-51 with just over eight minutes remaining in the game after Blalock cashed in twice at the charity stripe. The WildCats would connect on six of eight free throws down the stretch to pull out the tough 73-68 ODAC road win.
Rechnitzer added three rebounds and three assists to her team-high 14 points. Blalock recorded her first career double-double finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Cross added 13 points, going 7-8 from the foul line. Sam Schaffstall contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in the conference win. The WildCats dominated the paint, outrebounding the Quakers 44-34. Randolph also outscored Guilford 36-18 inside the paint.
Tracey Croner led the Quakers attack with 16 points and five rebounds. Ann Seufer and Jessica Casto each added 12 points.
Randolph will return to action Friday when the Wildcats welcome cross-town rival Lynchburg College for an ODAC matchup scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
