Iliana Carrasquillo takes singles match in third set to seal win for WildCats

Roanoke, VA -- The Randolph College Women's Tennis team posted their second straight ODAC match win Thursday night at Hollins University. The WildCats took the match 5-4 on a compelling final match from the number three singles Iliana Carrasquillo.
With the win Randolph improves to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in conference matches. Hollins slips to 3-7 overall and 2-6 in ODAC matches.
Hollins opened with two of three doubles flights to take an early lead. The team of Shantel Rivera/Madison Kebler accounted for Randolph's doubles win, 8-6. After Hollins posted wins in the number one and two singles positions, the WildCats' Caitlin Clare, Rivera and Kebler would post wins in the number four, five and six singles respectively. Clare took her match 6-1, 6-0. Rivera posted a 6-3, 6-0 win. Kebler secured the win 6-3, 6-1.
With the match tied at 4-4, the number three singles spot was still unfinished. Carrasquillo lost the first set 6-3, but rebounded in set two taking it 6-3. The third and final set would go to Carrasquillo as she took the set 6-4 and sealed the win for the WildCats.
Randolph will be back in action Friday when they travel to Roanoke College for an ODAC match scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
