WildCats finish eighth in two-day tourney

Lexington, VA -- The Randolph College Women's Tennis team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at the ODAC Championship Tournament held on the campus of Washington and Lee University. The WildCats fell against Virginia Wesleyan College in their first match of the day 6-0, then suffered a 7-0 defeat against Guilford.
On Sunday Randolph's Jane Campbell and Lori Gerlach each posted singles wins at their number one and two positions respectively against Emory and Henry College. Campbell posted scores of 6-3, 6-1. Gerlach went two sets to record the win 7-6, 8-7 (10-6). The Wasps took two of the four remaining singles matches, then posted a sweep in doubles play to capture the win 5-2 and seventh place. With the loss the WildCats finished in eighth place.
Randolph finishes the season 6-10 overall and 4-6 in ODAC play. The WildCats will return every player from this year's squad as they look to make a second straight appearance in the ODAC Tournament next season.
