Victoria Johnson finishes with eight saves

Ferrum, VA -- Host Ferrum College scored just 6:42 into the contest and held on from there as the Panthers posted a 1-0 win over Randolph College in both teams' season openers.
The WildCats slip to 0-1 overall while Ferrum improves to 1-0 on the season.
Olivia Callahan scored the lone goal for Ferrum off an assist from Kara Pegram just minutes into the match. The WildCats were unable to mount many scoring opportunities from there as the Panthers held a 14-6 advantage in shots. First-year Samantha Wittie tallied three shots (two shots on goal) for Randolph, while fellow first-year Brianne Roth finished with two shots (one shot on goal).
Junior goalie Victoria Johnson was steady in net for Randolph finishing with eight saves. Ferrum held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.
Randolph will return to action Saturday when the WildCats welcome Averett University for a match at 2:00 pm. It marks the home opener for the WildCats in 2009.
