Towson, MD -- Jonathan Balfour's goal at the 66:35 minute put DeSales University on top 2-1 and the Bulldogs held on to post the 2-1 win over Randolph College in the opening game of the Goucher College Classic on Friday afternoon.

With the loss Randolph suffers its first loss of the season as the WildCats stand at 1-1 on the year. DeSales improves to 2-0 on the season.

Tony Aufiero starting the scoring with a penalty kick goal at the 49:56 mark of the second half. The WildCats would answer and tie the score at 1-1 when Timmy Songer tallied his third goal of the season off assists from Nick Hudson and Eddy Ratianarivo just six minutes later. Balfour would then add the game-winner off an assist from Dustin Sturm to pull out the win for the Bulldogs.

DeSales outshot Randolph 22-16 in the contest, while the WildCats held a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks. Randolph was whistled for nine fouls, while the Bulldogs were penalized five times.

Goalie Aaron Humphreys finished with nine saves in all 90 minutes of action. Randolph will now play Marywood University in the consolation match on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
