Rocky Mount, NC -- North Carolina Wesleyan College turned in a 2-0 shutout over visiting Randolph College Wednesday afternoon at Scalf Field.

Randolph falls to 1-4-1 overall, while the Battling Bishops improve to 3-2 on the year.

After the two squads fought to a scoreless tie at the half, Wesleyan's Edgar Zaldivar delivered an assist to Owen White in the 62nd minute for the eventual gamewinner. Wesleyan went on to add an insurance goal just 26 seconds later.

NCWC outshot Randolph just 5-3 in the opening period but erupted for 18 shots in the final 45 minutes of play. Zaldivar's cross at the 61:06 mark saw White blast a one-timer to the right of WildCat keeper Aaron Humphreys. Seconds later, White found Florian Bertalan in the box for a 15-yard shot that also found the back of the net.

Despite giving up the two goals, Humphreys kept the WildCats in the game by making seven saves. NCWC keeper Philipp Uttikal made four saves on ten shots to secure the shutout for the Bishops.

The WildCats will return to action Saturday when they travel cross-town to face ODAC foe Lynchburg College in both teams' conference openers. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Shellenberger Field.
