WildCats record three singles and one doubles win

Sweet Briar, VA -- The Randolph College Women's Tennis team opened their 2009 fall campaign at cross-town ODAC rival Sweet Briar College on Saturday morning. The match format was geared for individual play to allow for more than the traditional three doubles and six singles positions. Instead, there were nine singles matches played using the USTA two-out-of -three sets format, followed by two rounds of doubles consisting of the collegiate 8-game pro set.
Iliana Carrasquillo scored one of three singles wins for Randolph taking her match by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Elysia Lopez also recorded a singles win by scores of 6-3, 6-1. Shantel Rivera posted the WildCats final singles win by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10). In doubles competition, the team of Carrasquillo and Caitlin Clare scored an 8-4 win for the WildCats.
Randolph will return to the courts Friday when they host Southern Virginia University for a non-conference match at 4:30 p.m. to kick-off family weekend events. Full results from the Sweet Briar Invitational are listed below.
