Box Score

Lynchburg, VA -- Bryan Wharton scored the lone goal of the game at the 41:42 mark of the first half, as visiting Hampden-Sydney College posted a 1-0 win over Randolph College on a rain soaked Saturday night.

With the loss Randolph slips to 2-6-1 overall and 1-2 in ODAC play. Hampden-Sydney improves to 7-2 overall and 2-1 on conference matches.

In a tightly contested match, neither team could find many chances to score. Wharton would take a ball deflected off a corner kick and beat WildCats goalie Aaron Humphreys to tally the game-winner.

The Tigers outshot Randolph 11-2, while holding a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. The WildCats were whistled for 13 fouls, while HSC was penalized 12 times. Humphreys finished with six saves allowing the lone goal, while Tigers goalie John Robert Plyler recorded one save picking up the shutout.

Randolph will look to bounce back when they host Methodist University on Tuesday in a non-conference match scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on the college's new track and field complex.
