Men's Tennis drops 5-0 decision in first match of fall campaign

Lynchburg, VA -- The Randolph College men's tennis team welcomed Southern Virginia University for their first fall match of the 2009-2010 season on Monday afternoon.

The teams played three singles and two doubles matches. Southern Virginia swept all three singles flights before taking both doubles matches. In #1 singles, WildCat Benjamin See drop his match against Stefan Vlassek 6-0, 6-1. In #2 singles, Southern Virginia's Phillip Whiteley scored a win over Carl Coffey by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Randolph's Tashi Dhondup was the lone WildCat to win a set in singles competition taking the second set of his match 6-1, before losing in the tiebreaker.

In doubles competition, the WildCats dropped both matches by scores of 8-1 and 8-2.

Randolph will return to the courts Saturday when they travel to Ferrum College to compete in the Bud Skeens Memorial Tournament at 11:00 a.m.
