Lynchburg, VA -- 110 minutes could not decide an outcome between Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph College in ODAC men's soccer action Saturday night.
With the tie Randolph sees it overall mark move to 3-7-2 and stand 2-2-2 in ODAC play. Virginia Wesleyan stands at 8-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in conference tilts.
The Marlins dominated the first half of play with several opportunities to take a lead. WildCats goalie junior Aaron Humphreys was outstanding in net all match, especially in the first frame. The Powhatan, VA native stood tall in net posting three of his season-high 12 saves in the first half. He would then stop several Marlin shots from close distance to keep the WildCats deadlocked throughout the second half.
Randolph's best scoring opportunity came with just under four minutes remaining in the second half when junior forward Jonathon Bolton broke free from the Marlins defense, but just missed wide of the goal.
Virginia Wesleyan held a 28-10 shot advantage, while holding a 16-5 advantage in corner kicks. Marlins goalie Ryan Zmuda was equally impressive in net finishing with five saves on the night.
The WildCats will be idle until Wednesday when they take to the road to face Roanoke College for an ODAC match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
