Salem, VA -- Host Roanoke College scored two goals in the first half, then added two more tallies in the second frame to post a 4-0 shutout win over Randolph College in ODAC men's soccer action Wednesday night.
With the loss Randolph falls to 3-8-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play. Roanoke improves to 10-3-2 overall and 6-0 in ODAC matches.
The Maroons Zaan Janse scored the eventual game-winner when he put home a rebound off a shot from Taylor Johnston that hit the post just 4:58 into the contest. The duo would give Roanoke a 2-0 lead as Johnston found the back of the net off an assist from Janse at the 31:11 mark of the first half.
In the second half, Roanoke's Kayvon Sarmadi would record the Maroons third goal off an assist from Jordan Troyer at the 53:57 mark. Tim Dunn would end the Maroons scoring on the night when he was tripped inside the box and awarded a penalty kick. Dunn would beat WildCat keeper Scott Zaring to the left side to seal the ODAC win.
Roanoke outshot Randolph 28-7, while holding a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. Zaring finished with two saves in relief of starter Aaron Humphreys who recorded six saves in just over 70 minutes of action.
Randolph will look to get back on the winning track Saturday when the WildCats travel to Randolph-Macon College for an ODAC match scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
