Men take 8th place; Women capture 10th place

Greensboro, NC -- Emory University's men's and women's teams swept college events at the Guilford College Quaker Invitational on a chilly October afternoon. The Eagles’ women's squad dominated the event scoring in five of the first seven spots while the men's team placed five runners among the top-12 overall to take the men’s team championship over second-place Virginia Wesleyan College.
Emory's Jenny Feinberg completed the six-kilometer course in 23:15.68, just 12 seconds in front of her teammate Tess Gallegos in the 94-runner field. The Eages also took third (Calley Edwards, 23:33.31), fifth (Sara Gelb, 23:42.82) and seventh (Colleen Campbell, 23:55.41) to round out their team scoring. Mary Baldwin College's Alyssa Starnes finished fourth (23:41.33), while Roanoke College's Maggie Moore (23:49.99) and Caroline Casey (23:56.13) finished in sixth and eighth place respectively.
Virginia Wesleyan College's Sean Whitson (26:54.35) captured the eight-kilometer men’s race, featuring 68 runners, outpacing Emory's Barri Levinson (2nd, 27:04.51) and Univeristy of Texas-Tyler's Ross Renfroe (3rd, 27:29.86). However Emory placed three other runners in the top ten to take the team title: Tim Halinski (5th, 27:53.06), Kevin Lanza (6th, 28:00.27) and Jon Usry (10th, 28:17.64). Josh Metz finished seventh and led Roanoke College's fourth-place effort in 28:01.45.
Randolph College finished 8th on the men's side, while the women's squad took 10th place edging Averett University. Sophomore Jerry Wells led the WildCat men with a time of 30:16, over thirty seconds better than his previous personal best time. Senior Ashley Haugh led the WildCat women with a time of 27:23, over 1:30 better than her previous personal best time. Complete listing of men and women WildCat results are posted below.
