Volleyball falls at Guilford College in ODAC action, 3-1

Greensboro, NC -- Randolph College stormed out of the gates to take the first set 25-22, but the WildCats were unable to keep the momentum going as host Guilford College took the next three sets to post a 3-1 ODAC victory Thursday night in volleyball action.

With the loss Randolph slips to 1-23 overall and 0-8 in conference play. Guilford improves to 10-13 overall and 2-6 in ODAC matches.

After the WildCats took the first set, the Quakers answered back and took three straight by scores of 25-15, 25-9, and 25-19. Junior Kristin Spinner enjoyed a fine evening finishing with a team-high 13 kills and a match-high 18 digs. First-year Sam Sublett followed with seven kills and six digs. Junior setter Caroline Engish posted a team-high 22 assists and added six kills. First-year Megan Wheatley contributed with five serve aces.

Brittany Freeman led the Quakers attack with 13 kills and seven digs, while Emma Gunn added 12 kills and three block assists.

The WildCats will return to action Saturday when they travel to Sweet Briar College for an ODAC match scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
