Volleyball goes 1-1 at Sweet Briar College tri-match

English totaled 16 kills and 35 assists in the tri-match

Sweet Briar, VA -- The Randolph College volleyball team went 1-1 at this weekends Sweet Briar College tri-match held on the campus of the Vixens. The WildCats defeated the host Vixens in straight sets 3-0, then fell to Southern Virginia University 3-0 in their second and final match of the afternoon.

Following the tri-match, the WildCats stand at 2-24 overall and 1-8 in conference play. Randolph took their match against Sweet Briar by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-23. The WildCats would fall to SVU by scores of 25-17, 25-13, and 25-11.

In the win against Sweet Briar, junior Kristin Spinner led the WildCats attack with nine kills and 15 digs. Junior setter Caroline English followed with eight kills and 24 assists. First-year Sam Sublett also contributed eight kills.

In the loss against SVU, English led the way with eight kills and 11 assists. Spinner followed with seven kills and seven digs.

Randolph will return to action Wednesday when the WildCats travel to Randolph-Macon College for an ODAC match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
