Lynchburg, VA -- Lynchburg College stormed out to a 4-0 halftime lead, then added two more goals in the second frame to post a 6-0 shutout win over Randolph College Saturday night in ODAC men's soccer quarterfinals action.

The loss ends the WildCats 2009 campaign at 6-9-4 overall. Lynchburg improves to 14-2-2 overall and will travel to second seeded Hampden-Sydney College in the semifinals on Wednesday.

The Hornets Donald Hart III, Pat Brown, Shawn Bender, and Shane Spanninger all scored unanswered goals in the first half to give Lynchburg the 4-0 lead heading to the break.

Brown and Bender would add their second goals of the match in the second frame to cap off Lynchburg's offensive attack. Junior goalie Aaron Humphreys finished with six saves starting and playing 72:34 of the contest. First-year keeper Scott Zaring entered the match with just over 17 minutes to play to finish in net for the WildCats.

Lynchburg outshot Randolph 17-8, while holding a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Hornets were whistled for 12 fouls, while Randolph was penalized 11 times.

The WildCats return all but one player from this season's roster, and will look to make its way back to the ODAC postseason tournament in 2010.
