Softball splits doubleheader at Randolph-Macon College

Ashland, VA -- Battling for playoff seeding, the Randolph College Softball team split games with host Randolph-Macon College Thursday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets posted a 3-2 win in game one, but the WildCats answered with a 6-1 win in game two.

With the split Randolph sees its overall record sit at 18-12 and 8-10 in ODAC play. Randolph-Macon stands 13-13 overall and 7-9 in conference games. Randolph sits in sixth place currently.

In game one Randolph jumped out to a 2-0 lead after five innings as Teresa Dalton belted her second home run of the season. The Yellow Jackets would respond and score one run in the sixth. Courtney Brooks would then hit a walk-off two run home run in the seventh to steal the conference win from the WildCats. Dalton recorded the loss on the mound going six innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Brooks picked up the win in the circle for Randolph-Macon going all seven innings allowing six hits and two earned runs.

Game two was dominated by Randolph, belting out 10 hits in the 6-1 win. Eight of Randolph's nine batters had atleast one hit. Dalton went the distance on the mound allowing four hits, one earned run and six strikeouts. Lindsay Cross and Lauren Siko each had two hits for the WildCats.

The doubleheader ends the WildCats conference slate. Randolph will return to action Tuesday when they host non-conference opponent Averett University at 3:00 p.m.
